I think it takes a very special person to be a paramedic. I’m not sure what academic qualifications you would need but volunteering with organisations like St Johns Ambulance will really help when you start applying for college and also for work.
As long as you are aware that many times you might be the first on scene so you won’t know what you will face however I think these times will be hugely overshadowed by the amazing patients you will get to meet. I’m in a lab so not patient fronting however when I’m walking between departments and meet some patients it makes you realise that what you are doing is worthwhile. You will be saving someones life and that I can only imagine is one of the biggest highs life is going to throw at you.
I think the fact you are thinking about becoming a paramedic shows a good strength of character so just maybe do a bit of volunteering and keep trying. Nobody got anywhere by quitting! Good luck and hope it all goes well.
