      Neurons are a specialised brain cells designed to carry electrical impulses. The human brain has billions of neurons, some scientists estimate it at as many as 100 billion. They talk to each other by sending chemical messages.

      Neurons look a bit different to other cells in the body, often looking a bit like a tree as they have dendrite “branches” that come off the axon. The nucleus is in a bit called the soma. You can find a picture of a neuron in my profile.
