Memories are stored in the connections between brain cells. There are different types of memory that are more closely related to certain brain regions. For instance, your memory of playing a musical score is linked to the motor system in the motor cortex. In contrast, your ability to remember what you had for supper yesterday is linked to the hippocampal memory system.
