Question: what was your inspiration for graphic design or microbiology?

I’ve always had a personal interest in graphic design because I have always been able to draw well and can therefore appreciate all things aesthetically-pleasing, especially logos and corporate identities. However while I was working on my portfolio for my HKCEE (GCSE-equivalent in Hong Kong, but harder) Visual Arts 10 years ago, I learned that my ability to innovate does not come easy. Since then I decided that I would not wish to make a living through the arts.
My aspirations for pursuing further studies in microbiology stem from my final years of university studies, my Clinical Oncology (cancer) lab placements as well as my internships at the Centre for Health Protection in Hong Kong (equivalent of Public Health England). In the lab, I discovered that I quite enjoy working in such a setting, but don’t necessarily wish to continue handling mammalian cell cultures. Through my studies and internships, I’ve come to appreciate the immense possibilities in the world of microbiology instead. The direness of the antibiotic resistance crisis strikes me in particular. Therefore I wish to contribute to this field.
