Practice I guess, knowledge gradually builds up. For example I never sat down and tried to learn all the regions of the brain, but by reading about them again and again gradually I learned about it – some of it I should say! There are still some parts of the brain I am less familiar with because they are not the focus of my research. But what’s nice these days is that it is very easy to look up things you have forgotten or you don’t know on the internet – which is an advantage that researchers in the past did not have. It does mean that we have also to read and digest a lot of information!
