Malaria is transmitted through the bites of mosquitos, a mosquito bites someone who is infected with malaria and then their blood is transmitted into the next person when they bite again since the infected blood is present around the sting area. Strangely it’s only the female mosquitos that transmit malaria!
It’s particularly important to help children infected with malaria since this causes anemia (a lack of good red blood cells) which affects brain growth and development. Severe malaria can cause epileptic seizures and even coma but this is extremely rare and it is hardly ever even found in Britain.
