• Question: You know how some people grow up male/female and then have like transgender operations because they believe they are in the worng body, is there such a diference between the male and female brains that there is a possibility they could have been a female brain in a male body and vice versa? thanks x

Good question! Yes, several times there have been instances where someone who has been brought up as a female has been found to have male chromosomes (and a masculine brain), and vice versa – this could have explained why they were not happy being treated as the opposite sex, and why they wanted to have a sex change

Hello! That’s a very interesting question and I’m sure that people who have had these transgender operations would argue that this is the case. For psychologists the male versus female brain is something that is very interesting and we are always looking out for differences in brain activity during brain scanning and when doing psychological tests. I think that this IS a possibility but we don’t have any hard evidence for it.
