      Fair point. It would indeed seem like common sense to eat a good diet, exercise, keep up social connections and take time to relax, but a lot of professionals recommend talking about problems as a means of developing. So part of my work if aimed at widening the strategies professionals advocate.

      Science likes to control variables to test effectiveness so will get therapists to use a standard manual, of say cognitive therapy, when trying to assess the effectiveness of an intervention, say for depression or anxiety. The approaches that seem to be more effective are then rolled out for all people. I do not think this approach is good enough, Different people respond to very different approaches. Its harder for scientists to assess this kind of variability
