• Question: Do you think that a cure could be found for diseases that you study, such as Parkinson's?

      I think there is hope that one day there will be a cure for Parkinson’s. If we can understand why the special cells called dopamine cells die then we can try to find a way to protect them from what kills them. Until then there are some very good treatments for Parkinsons including implanting a wire stimulator into the brain where the dopamine cells would normally signal too and this mimics the action of the dopamine cells. Patients with this can lose a lot of their symptoms and have a better quality of life.
