It is possible to do this type of surgery, some people have extra toes or thumbs which if they cause problems can be removed. To survive they would be supplied with blood and nerves.
My guess is that it would be incredibly difficult to integrate this nerve with the new tissue. Goes back to this idea of the new organ interacting/rejecting the new nerve. It would probably be easier to try and improve or re-grow a nerve that is already in place rather then introduce a new one.
