• Question: why do we have saliva?

      I think it is to lubricate our mouth so that our cheek walls don’t get injured by our teeth. It is also to ease the chewing (first step of food digestion) and it helps to fight germs!

      Saliva also contains starch digesting enzymes, but these may have limited time to work on our mouths

      I think it does lots of good things. Keeps the area moist, supports breaking down food and is a natural mouth wash to keep the mouth clean
