      They become crusty as they dry out
      I think the colour of bogeys depends if they have bacteria, dirt or dead cells stuck in them

      I would guess that the colour reflects what is in them. A darker colour seems to occur when you have a running cold and so i would guess that this is when there is a lot of bacteria around due to the infection. Crusty is when they dry out…. (you can probably guess i’m not an expert in this area!)
