Hello, I suppose you are referring to a moisturiser/ face cream/ body lotion, they help our skin by providing layers of moisture trap (hence the name) so that our skins don’t get dry and crack easily. Our body can regulate the level of moisture on skin through sweating but sometimes when the weather is too dry it needs extra help!
Creams are a great approach as the sit on the surface area and allow things to be absorbed through the skin. So moisturisers re-hydrate the skin (a bit like us drinking water) whereas medicine in creams is absorbed to help the skin recover from rashes/burns by stimulating processes of healing
