I used to work as a childhood obesity exercise specialist so I have met many many obese people. Within the sessions we ran we helped both the parents and children to become healthier. When working with children, depending on their age we aim to work towards weight maintenance so that they can grow into their body shape as they get older, as weight loss can sometimes not be healthy for children. With the adults though we do work towards weight loss with them. I have had many stories back over the years of families that have completely changed their lives and thank us for our work with them. We help them modify their diet by reducing the amount of salt and sugar that they eat, increasing their fruit and veg consumption over time, making sure their portion sizes are the right size for them, helping them to find activities that they enjoy and also to have fun as a family and do fun trips out to the park and swimming baths etc. It is very rewarding when someone tells you that you have helped them and they have lost some weight and feel fitter and healthier.
