I’m not sure whether I would change my mind, because I quite enjoy the project I am doing now, but.. when I accepted my PhD here in York, a few days later I got an offer from Edinburgh. I would have gotten nearly £10,000 more a year, but the project wasn’t quite what I was interested in, and I had already said yes to York so I didn’t change my mind.

But sometimes, I admit, I think about what I could have done with that extra money!

I joined what was actually a engineering graduate scheme straight out of uni, and while I enjoyed it, I think I would skip over to my current role a little faster if I did it again.

Nope I wouldn’t change anything. Sometimes I thought I might have chosen the wrong degree when I found Physics really difficult and thought other people were much better at it than me! But after working hard and enjoying my work, I got the grades that I wanted. With a physics degree, you can do so many different kinds of jobs, so it’s quite a flexible degree to have. People also see it as a difficult degree, so if you do well in it, you really stand out.
I’ve always enjoyed what I’ve done, so am grateful for that.

No I don’t think I would change anything big, I think studying physics was a good choice and I really like my job in medical physics.

I might change a few small things here and there like continuing to study Spanish but overall I’m pretty happy with how my career is going.
