Question: can I become a mutant, such as it x men

Sadly, I don’t think so – the powers that a lot of the X-Men have are just physically impossible and so there is no amount of mutations that would give you the powers that they have.

What we might be able to do is mutate people to make them resistant to certain diseases, and maybe cure genetic diseases where there are errors in the DNA.

We have some good technologies that can be used to alter DNA in very specific ways, but it would be a big challenge to change all the DNA in a person. You would have to get this technology into every cell of your body, which we can’t do yet. We might be able to mutate embryos before they grow up, where there are only a small number of cells so it is a lot easier to make these changes. But this is very controversial because people think it is unsafe and not the right thing to do. Scientists are not allowed to try it at the moment.
