      Slowly, but steadily. I try to cut them regularly. Keep myself pretty 🙂

      In terms of the mechanism that makes them grow: there is calcium accumulating at the end that gradually pushes them out. They are a biological relic from a time when we had to use them as a weapon to kill our prey. Today they have few uses.
