Technically yes, I have a calendar which is at the moment filled with loads of “I am a scientist” chat bookings. Beyond that we have to work 40 hours a week which can be worked off at any point desirable.

Not really – I have a few long term deadlines – get paper published by July, get next two sequencing projects started by August, that sort of thing. I only give myself a timetable for a day if I have a lot of things to get done all at once

Yes, a very busy Google Calendar. Lots of regular meetings between which I have to fit in the research, paper and grant writing and teaching.]

Organisation is key to making sure things don’t slip and reacting when things change quickly. An important skill in Science is to know how to say ‘no’ otherwise your workload can very quickly spiral out of control.
