• Question: whats your funniest moment in the lab

      well it shouldn’t be funny but it kind of was…I had a small fire in a lab and could not speak Spanish well at the time so instead of shouting something sensible to my lab mate like: Dame el extintor! (give me an extinguisher) I shouted: Sopla! (Blow). So my colleague did….he blew on the small fire…fires like oxygen! Bad idea, but we laughed afterwards

      Difficult question, we had great fun dressing up for #DistractinglySexy (I can’t seem to add the picture). A scientist said that male scientists are distracted by female scientists, so loads of female scientists put on their biggest protective clothing and posted pictures of themselves at work on twitter to show how ridiculous his comments were!

      When you grow malaria parasites, they need a special kind of gas mixture to grown in a flask, so you have to out this gas into the flask. We had a big tank of it and you have to turn the tap on to get the gas out. It kind of went bang as I reached in to turn it on, I fell off the box that I was standing on and fell right on my backside, flask in the air and everyone laughed. Now I’ve typed that out, I think you kind of had to be there…..
