Hi there
It’s because I saw the potential for so much inspirational science when I saw the awesome demo. I can only be one place in real life, but I can be so many more places with augmented reality! The total cost will be like £10,000, but this would really help.
Chris
I was talking with a co-worker at my university who is also really passionate about outreach one day about my past and she gave me the idea. I have lots of friends who are chefs, chocolatiers and food scientists and I thought it would be great to do an outreach event teaching various aspects of science entirely through the medium of chocolate
I tutor GCSE and A-levels students in science and usually they are really interested in the experiments; nowadays everybody uses computers or tablets, so I thought it could be useful to design a program to get students to try experiments and learn about chemistry.
The alternative would be me going around schools showing experiments, but some are too dangerous and I’ll never be able to visit enough schools.
I think that if the computer program project is successful it could be used by any student in the country who is interested, not only the ones I can visit.
Hi,
The Lightyear foundation do great work, helping kids and schools in Africa to learn about science. Schools can often struggle as they don’t have the expertise or the equipment to teach science, the Lightyear foundation can change that. Just think how many more great scientists there would be I everyone got the chance to learn about science.
I am really passionate about science and also about letting people know what life is really like if you choose this as a carer. I want to encourage people to work in scientific fields, which is why I am doing this and also why I do outreach projects. I enjoy having students in the lab and giving them a taste of what lab life is like!
