Hi again, StarExploder1
I think VR is going to be a Google Brain type thing involving bioelectronics directly interfaced with your brain. I’ve seen how things are developing in this area, and it’s both scary and cool.
My fear of VR, in a comic: http://www.geekculture.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/2258.html
My thoughts on AI are like those from Ray Kurzweil. Check this out on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity
For bioelectronics, check out John Rogers work. My favourite video is where they’re controlling a drone with electronics strapped to one of his student’s arms: http://rogers.matse.illinois.edu/multimedia.php

I think it will get more an more amazing and life like. I have seen an unbelievable change in my lifetime already. Now I can talk to my phone, it will understand me and do tasks that I tell it to do. When I was your age (man I sound old already, I’m not honest!) phones were so basic, all you could do was speak on them and send 150 characters of text to people. And that is nothing, we have robots that can ‘learn’ tasks, or I should say, appear to learn tasks. I recently saw a fascinating explanation of the difference between a robot learning and us learning:
There are load of different types of AI, we use a form of AI to help us to design proteins. It’s a really exiting field and could be great to help humans to make new innovations. There is some really cool stuff going on and some of it does look a bit scary. I think its all about making sure we make good decisions about what it is developed for.
Thanks for your question. It’s not really my area of expertise. I think it’s cool but I worry that things like this will take over ‘real life’. I know that makes me sound really old and boring but too many people already spend all day at computers and with their heads down on their phones, not paying attention to the world around them.
