  Thanks for your question. I had such a great time in Peru, it’s my favourite country.
  
  I worked on trying to find a cheap way to diagnose tuberculosis. Peru has some very remote and poor areas where people don’t have access to hospitals and expensive equipment so having a quick and cheap way to diagnose TB is important. Also, normally when you diagnose a bacterial disease, you grow the bacteria to identify what it is. The bacterium which causes TB (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) grows really slowly, so it can take weeks to diagnose. Having a technique which can speed that up can prevent other people getting infected.
  
  I would fully recommend going to Peru if you ever get chance
