• Question: when did you first enjoy science

      I think the first book I read that opened me to the wonders of science and mathematics was One, Two, Three, Infinity, by George Gamow. I read it when I was in primary school, maybe third grade.

      When I started to frequent research labs and saw science in action – around the age of 15.

      Already before that, I had enjoyed books by or about many travelers from the 15th to 20th centuries, and a book about Conrad Röntgen (who discovered X rays) was the second or third book I ever read once I understood the workings of the alphabet (i.e. by the end of my first year at school).
