Liver disease is where the liver is so badly injured that it becomes covered in scars and these scars replace normal liver tissue which is essential for our body to work as it should. We are doing tests as part of what is called a clinical trial, this is where when we think we have a drug that can make someone better then we test it in a small number of patients before then making it generally available. We are testing drugs currently used to treat high blood pressure which we think can stimulate removal of liver scars and regeneration of healthy liver tissue.
