We use those lights at night when we don’t have sunlight! The sun provides us with a lot more than just light. If we didn’t have the sun, the temperature here on earth would drop quite far below freezing, to the point where the earth would really struggle to support any life. It would be very likely that only things below the surface would be able to survive, as they could use the heat from the earth’s core, at least for a while.

The sun is responsible for the process of making food and oxygen in plats called Photosynthesis. Plants need sunlight every day to provide oxygen for humans who inhale this and give out carbondi-oxide. The sun is, therefore, part of the vital features of our ecosystem. When rain falls the water needs to be dried by the sun and not street lights so that we can have a proper water cycle.

Space is roughly minus 269 degrees, would be pretty cold and lifeless on earth with the sun
