To be honest, I’ve never actually felt an earthquake myself, so I’m not talking from personal experience. But, in general, a large earthquake would be accompanied by a period of shaking. That shaking can be anywhere from seconds to minutes long, depending on how large the earthquake is, and it can feel like anything from something very minor (like a large lorry going past your house, to the most severe, where buildings can get knocked down. Where you are is also important – the further away an earthquake is, the less you feel it, but you’ll also feel earthquakes more if you’re at the top of a tall building, for example.
