Yes, absolutely! There are a few things we can look at for evidence:
– Fossils – these show how organisms have changed over time (whether they have changed a little or a lot).
– There’s a species of moth called the peppered moth, which adapted to changes in the colour of the trees they rested on – these trees turned black from soot during the industrial revolution. Darker moths were more likely to remain hidden on these black trees, so these were more likely to survive and reproduce.
– Antibiotic resistance – bacteria and viruses can reproduce and evolve very quickly.
