Goodness! What a question. That would require being very powerful and influential. It would be very difficult, but I think that changing how people think and behave would make a massive difference. Our attitude and behaviour shapes the world around us, so if we can try to change this for the better, perhaps we could live in a better world.
For example, if more people knew about the important role our environment plays in being able to provide us with food, fresh water, clean air…and so much more, the world would care for the planet much more than it already does. I feel it’s very important that we understand where all our resources come from. We shouldn’t just expect milk to always be on the supermarket shelf whenever we need it, but we should understand and appreciate the long process that goes behind all this before we can drink it. The farmer has to tend for the cows, the cows must be healthy and looked after, milked, the milk must be pasteurised (which makes it safer to drink), then travel to the supermarket. Perhaps if we knew how precious each glass of milk is, we would not, as human beings, be so wasteful.
Unfortunately, greed is a very negative, damaging characteristic of some humans. There should be a lot less of it in the world!
If I was a very important leader, I would help governments to come together to help the millions of people on our planet living in extreme poverty. There are so many children like you, who don’t get enough food or water each day. They can’t go to school to learn all the cool stuff like you do.
I would like to give these people the opportunity to make their lives better. And to do that I would need to get everyone helping each other. By helping each other we can all make a little difference and lots of little differences can make a giant big difference to people’s lives.
A lot of science is needed for this too! We need to find water for millions of people in Africa. We need to help these people survive many illnesses and give them access to medicine.
Maybe one day, one of you guys will become a great leader and you can make this dream come true!
I’ve had to think about this one!
I would make sure that everyone had access to clean water and free/cheap medical care.
Many adults and children die of preventable diseases every day.
Unfortunately though we will soon run out of effective antibiotics so I would also make sure that this didn’t happen.
