For the kind of science I do, studying the Universe with big telescopes and satellite, I think my strongest point it’s the ability to use maths and statistics to understand what those complicated observations about the Universe mean for our theories of how the Universe works and what it is made of.

In my work, we can’t just look at the pictures taken by telescopes and see what we are looking for. We need to use complicated mathematical methods to “feed” those images to supercomputers, so that at the end we are able to interpret the meaning of the observations. This is what I do most of the time.

So being good at maths is definitely helpful in my job.
