Much of our physical structure is set by the genes that we get from our parents. So some things you can change, other things are more difficult. For broad shoulders, I think that you need to eat well as you are growing, and possibly also work out, i.e. with weights or do gymnastics, in order to develop the shoulder muscles.
I definitely agree with Nate on this one, it’s all about the genes!
You can ‘work out’ to build up muscles in your upper body but it should only be attempted with the help of a professional trainer as it can be dangerous to build up one group of muscles and ignore others! I used to fence when I was younger so I had stronger muscles on one side of my body than the other thanks to my sword arm. Some of the professional fencers I knew suffered so badly from this that they ended up with twists in their spines, so it’s really important to be careful when developing muscles to make sure that you don’t cause any lasting damage!
