• Question: This might not be in your field of Study but just say one of the big gas planets like Saturn or Uranus was to have an "earthquake" on it and it would dismantle its core and the planet will die, what would happen after that? Would the planet fall out of our solar system or just stay and die?

      Hi Martin,

Thanks for this interesting question! Let me see if I got the question right. So, when you say that the planet dies after it dismantles its core, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean that some part of the planet gets detached from it?

I think that what will happen then is that the planet will get closer to the Sun but still orbit it, as the only change is that its mass is reduced. But this is just my naive opinion so I might be wrong!!
