• Question: Is there any chance to be able to cure a terminal patient?

      That’s a really tough question. I used to work on cancer before moving to the eye, and for sure, once cancer gets to an advanced stage there is often little that can be done. But I follow this kind of work closely, and the treatments get better and better, to the point where there are patients who have cancer that would have been described as ‘terminal’ a decade ago, but who may now be treatable. Interestingly, one of the treatments we’re developing for one particular kind of eye disease, may also work for some cancers. So sometimes, research in one area can benefit another.
