Julian Rayner answered on 15 Mar 2011:

I have been working on malaria for 13 years (scary!). We made a recent discovery about a protein that seems to be essential for parasites to recognise and invade human red blood cells, which makes it a great vaccine or drug target. We are in the early phases of testing that now. This kind of development takes a while, but we are pretty excited.
