That’s a tough one. HIV/AIDS treatments have made huge steps forward in the last 10 years. From basically being a death sentence not that long ago, HIV/AIDS has turned into a disease that can be controlled with drugs for long periods of time, which is a huge victory for scientific research. These drugs really are miracles.
Curing is a different matter though – none of the current drugs actually eliminate the virus, and people wind up living with HIV for the rest of their lives. I don’t work in the field, so I don’t know if we will ever be able to completely cure it, it is a pretty cunning virus. Still, people are working very hard on it, so I am hopeful, just like you.
