Bacteria and similar micro-organisms live near ‘hydrothermal vents’, where hot water and chemicals come from deep within the earth. Several weird and wonderful sea creatures live deep in the oceans and eat the bacteria. It’s salt water all the way to the bottom, then there’s rock the same as on land.
The deeper you go, the weirder the animal life gets…

I don’t know. I saw a documentary once where there were tonnes of crabs on the sea floor. Also A pool of fresh water with microbes living in there. WAtch Blue planet. BBC had it on and David Attenborough narrated!
