There are lots of really interesting things at the bottom of the sea! As there is little or no light there, life has had to find a way of surviving in other ways than at the surface.
One example is that you can find colonies of bacteria, animals and crustaceans around hydrothermal vents. There are cracks in the earths crust where water meets lava, generating loads of heat! The bacteria live on the heat (and rocks) and everything else lives on the bacteria/other animals.
Its a fascinating place and some scientists think that life on the planet started somewhere like that, but that life on other planets could exist in a form like that!

Jodie, I would be terrified to go down there and check it myself but you could probably find the pretties – and weirdest – deep-sea animals. I know of a funny-looking jellyfish, Atolla, and a sea-worm, Tomopteris.

In the bottom of the Atlantic ocean you can also find a big volcano with the shape of a spine that goes through the entire ocean from North to South. This is called ocean ridge and it is responsible of pushing the American continent away from Europe and Africa. So you can imagine how immense is the force of this volcano!!

Lots of unknown sea creatures, I’d imagine. I think they’re always finding new species in the depths of the ocean so I think there’s a huge amount of exploration still to be done down there.
