Well photochemistry can be used to make lots of things! I use it to make building blocks for chemical compounds but plants use it to make sugars from CO2 and water. Certain areas of Photochemistry can be used in the treatment of cancer as well (Photodynamic therapy). In this treatment chemicals are put into the body which accumulate inside cancer cells. A light is the shined on the cells. The chemical then becomes active and kills the cancer cells but leaves the healthy tissue alone! Pretty neat way of targeting cancer cell only!
There are also fish that live at the bottom of the ocean that react chemicals together to make light. This is to attract prey so they can eat them!
