Well it’s meant to be towards A public engagement activity (see profile for details). But if it was towards my research I would use the money to go to a conference (a big meeting of scientists) to discuss the latest research and ideas. Preferably somewhere hot!

I would spend it on getting in some kids from local schools into my lab. I could get them involved in some cool experiments and they can learn about what happens in a real scientist’s day. The drug discovery process is really interesting and different to what many people think. I’d hope that I could inspire people to go into science.

I would like to bring my bacteria into the classroom, to show how quickly antibiotic resistance can evolve

I would used the money to go to different schools and tell the pupils about my research and science in general, and get them to make some fun experiments.

        Hi Claireee,
We are trying to organise a sort of “zombie apocalypse” event in which kids and grown-ups have to figure how a way to survive the disaster (make medicine to cure diseases, how to clean dirty water, how to build shelter). I would probably use the money to support that.
