Definitely! You need a creative spark to decide what research to conduct, to dream up new ideas and ways of doing things. You spend years learning what everyone else has done (much like in art where you spend year studying DaVinci, Van Gogh, Picasso). Then you apply your own twist to your area of research.

Yep, you definitely need to be creative in order to think of things to study that no one else has. You also need to be creative when communicating your ideas and findings to other people.

Definitely. Not in the same way as art or which is good because I’m rubbish at both of them! You need to think of ways to solve problems in the lab and sometimes that takes some really crazy thinking. Sometimes thinking creatively works and sometimes it goes wrong and you look like a fool! It’s all adds to the thrill of science each day 🙂

Yes, being both objective and innovative is crucial.
      Scientists are artists 🙂
