ha! desperate… I have 3 travel books I still haven’t used and am “desperate” to use them. The first one is the lonely planet book on Botswana and Namibia. I was solo close to Botswana (17km from where we studied the meerkats) and all I managed to do was jump the border fence illegally for photos. The second book, and this one is very special to me, is the lonely planet book on Vietnam, Cambodia Laos & Northern Thailand. This was the trip of my dreams for a honeymoon for many years. I’m now giving up on the idea and considering just going by myself. The third book is a Bradt book on Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe. I used to know someone who did field work (he habituated lowland gorillas to human presence!!) in Gabon and he used to send me the most incredible photos of the animals and scenery there.
I’m sorry I haven’t answered your question at all, but when it comes to travelling, I am a desperate person. Just not a very decisive one!
Oh goodness, so many countries, so little time! So much world to see! I just want to see and do everything but unless i win the lottery (unlikely as I don’t play) I am sure I am unlikely to get to all of it. Immediately on the to-do list are New Zealand and China
I really want to go to New Zealand some day – I’d love the wide green spaces and sense of getting away, plus the wildlife is pretty cool. I’ll need more time and money though!
