I really am a science teacher because most of my job is lecturing and I have to fit my research around that. Don’t think I could do chemistry/biology/physics from school though!

Most scientists are science teachers, me included. We just teach slightly older people (mainly over 18s). Could I be a school teacher? I think I’d need to learn a lot more – school teachers do an amazing job!

Really suddenly? I think my first response would be to go into a minor panic, then I’d pull myself together and start preparing. Without preparation I wouldn’t be able to do it at all. There are loads of things I learnt in school that i’ve forgotten since. I’d definitely have to do a lot of reading beforehand!

I like to think that if i really needed to I could turn my hand to anything. I already help out in Genetics and Animal Physiology labs so I guess that is a form of science teaching. If I had to go back into a classroom I would certainly need to do background reading before I attempted it!

hehe definitely! Although I am already teaching Biology to the Undergraduates and PhD students here and I love teaching, especially when we play games to learn. 🙂
