      Great question! It is always important wherever possible in research to develop projects that could easily be applied across species wherever possible – to maximise the overall use. This type of a study could be applied to any other animal species – it is in essence using studies of behaviour to help to improve welfare. In this case it is social behaviour in elephants but it could be very easily applied to chimpanzees or bonobos say – other highly social animals 🙂
