• Question: Did you went to específic parts of the world 🌎 to see different tiles of birds and see how did they react

      I have been to lots of different places but not always to study birds. I studied barking geckos in Namibia in south west Africa: these geckos live in burrows and come out in the evening to bark at the entrance to their burrows. I studied ducks and geese in Sweden: some females lay eggs in the nests of their relatives: an insurance in case their own nest is destroyed by a predator. I studied canaries in Germany but these were domesticated birds and lived in an aviary. I investigated the hormone levels of female birds in the USA but I was only looking at test tubes, not real birds. All of my work studying wild birds has been done in Great Britain. I have talked about birds at lots of conferences and these are held all over the world. This summer I am going to Portugal to talk about animal behaviour science with lots of other scientists

      I haven’t actually specifically been to anywhere to study birds – although I have watched a lot of birds on various other trips around the world! The only place i have actually worked with animals was in South Africa – that was a truly amazing experience!
