Not really, the phone can be used as a tool for teaching. I have used allowed students to vote for answers in classes and also for taking photos of the lecture slides. I reckon as long as it doesn’t distract the rest of the class, it can be helpful!
I don’t know how I’d feel if I was a school teacher. At uni, my students use them to record things, take pictures of notes and complete tests I set and I feel like it’s up to them whether they use them or not. If I was a teacher and everyone was using them to avoid doing work that wouldn’t be great though
I think there is a time and a place for phones and if you are using it to help you or to take pictures (I recently helped in a dissection where students were doing that) then absolutely fine 🙂
