• Question: @Suzanne How many different baboons are there in the world and which countries do they come from? @Renata Is all bird poo relatively the same? @Claire Why is it that when some species don't find a mate that they die e.g female ferrets will die if they don't find a mate by secreting a hormone into their blood which creates depression of bone marrow which ends in anaemia therefore they die?

      There are 5 species of baboon, the olive Baboon, Yellow Baboon, Guinea Baboon, Chacma Baboon, and Hamadryas Baboon. They’re very widespread across central Africa, if you draw a thick line across africa through the equator it’ll look a lot like their range! Where I work, in Nigeria, we are right at the edge of their range in West Africa so it’s a tough environment and climate for them. Here’s a list of countries where you can find baboons (there are a lot!):

      Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somalia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo.

      Hello, yes, all bird poo looks more or less the same, it’s a creamy liquid usually whitish, greyish or greenish. In some birds, usually those that eat seeds, you can actually find bits of the food in the feaces but with many birds it is really just the liquid.
