Definately – even though we are constantly finding evidence to show us many animals aren’t as ‘dumb’ as we originally thought (tortoises and pigeons for one!) it’s safe to say a chimpanzee is more clever than a slug!

There are certainly differences between animals within a species, but in the same way that the weaker animals of a species will not survive or will not be selected as mates to reproduce, whereas the the stronger will survive and get selected to reproduce, the less smart animals will also not thrive as well as the clever ones and thus the gene pool of the species is enhanced and each generation becomes smarter than the next one.

Having said that your parents and teachers are smarter than you 😉
