Hi Dan, I like your question, but its quite difficult to answer because what happens to you when you get older depends on lots of things, not just exercise.

Lets say, you don’t smoke, you don’t drink too much alcohol and you have a good diet. If you add exercise to those things you will be in at low risk of heart, vascular, bone and mental health as you get older (although there are genetic determinants which might increase/decrease your risk and you can’t do much about these except thanking your parents).

NOT exercising, even if you do all the other good things, means you will not see the benefits of increased bone density, better vascular health and stringer muscles.

However, this is where it gets tricky, NOT exercising (sedentary behaviour) often goes together with other behaviours as an adult (such as sitting in the pub drinking beer and eating peanuts) and this can be where things get problematic for your health.

So in conclusion, the best thing to do is get into the habit of exercising while you’re young and hopefully this will stay with you into your adult life, making you more health and more attractive as you get old.
      😉 Good luck
