The main thing I want to find out from my experiments is whether the virus I study, called cytomegalovirus, affects how well our immune cells respond to vaccines. If cytomegalovirus infections means immune cells don’t respond as well (which is what I have seen) then this suggests the infection might stop people being protected by the vaccines. This would be important to know to help governments decide how to deal with cytomegalovirus and how to design their vaccination programmes.
We do lots of different types, but usually we want to know how tissue of cells from a person with a disease is different to healthy tissue/cells, and what a potential new medicine has done. E.g has it reversed those changes?
