• Question: Is there less of a chance of you making a breakthrough discovery than 100 years ago?

      Thats a really good question Finn. I don’t think there is any less chance of breakthrough research happening now than a 100 years ago. Because we know so much more these days it’s more often a collection of small discoveries that leads to a breakthrough.

      Oh that is a very good point!!! I think there is less chance that a single group would discover something unique.
      That said, I think that are still big chances to come out with breakthrough technology.

      I think if anything there might be more chance – the more we know about the world the more questions seem to develop. BIG breakthroughs, even 100 years ago, are still rare (and often you won’t know how ‘big’ a breakthrough is until years after it has happened), as most thing you see in the news are the result of years of small steps towards that single goal.
