      Hi cheese2000 – what an apt name for the question! Pretty much everything has bacteria on it, and food is no exception – and it’s the bacteria that causes it to go mouldy, because the food is useful for them too. In fact, the mould is a fungus, and when they settle on food they start to break it down and start multiplying. Pretty gross…
